i just added a book a second time by mistake and it's now on my shelf twice.

maybe a validation which scans the existing books might be worth a try?

stupid question .. has it actually added the item to the list, or just told you so ("Successfully added to shelf:") ?
i can't reproduce the first problem.. but the second :)

hm, maybe it's a misunderstanding:

it's not really a bug but more a human issue:
i forgot that i've already added a book yesterday and added it again today, which is totally fine - i don't blame the application for my stupidity. :)
However, maybe a warning next to the preview, which advises that the current object - which you want to add - is already on your shelf, would be nice, to prevent such situation.

reproducing is therefore no problem: just enter the isbn and add it to your shelf - and do the same process with the same isbn N times :)

i didn't quite follow your screendesign and simply exchanged the checkbox with the message 'Already on your shelf.' (there is no reason to do this anyway)
